If you would like to permanently delete your COIL account and all associated data, you can do so directly from within the app. This guide walks you through the process step by step.
Before You Delete Your Account
Please note the following before proceeding:
- Your COIL wallet balance will be forfeited upon account deletion. Ensure you have withdrawn or spent any remaining balance before initiating the process.
- All your transaction history, digital receipts, loyalty points, and personal information stored on COIL will be permanently deleted.
- Any Fuel4U credit sent to you that has not been spent will also be forfeited.
- This action is irreversible. Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
- If you are linked to a company’s COIL for Business account, notify your HR or Finance team before deleting your account.
How to Delete Your COIL Account
Step 1 — Open the COIL app
Launch the COIL app on your iOS or Android device and log in to your account.
Step 2 — Go to Profile
Tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.
Step 3 — Open Settings
Tap Settings in the top right corner of your Profile page.
Step 4 — Select Account
Scroll down and tap Account or Account Management.
Step 5 — Tap Delete Account
Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the Account section.
Step 6 — Confirm your identity
You will be asked to verify your identity by entering your PIN or confirming via OTP sent to your registered phone number.
Step 7 — Confirm deletion
Read the confirmation prompt carefully. Tap Yes, Delete My Account to permanently delete your account.
Your account and all associated personal data will be permanently removed from COIL’s systems within 30 days of your request, in line with our Privacy Policy and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
Prefer to Request Deletion by Email?
If you are unable to access the app, you can also request account deletion by sending an email to:
Include the following in your email:
- Your full name
- Your registered phone number
- Subject line: Account Deletion Request
Our team will process your request within 7 business days and confirm once your account has been deleted.
What Data Gets Deleted?
When you delete your COIL account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your name, phone number, and email address
- Your wallet balance and virtual account details
- Your full transaction history
- Your loyalty points and rewards balance
- Your fuel search and station history
- Any saved preferences or settings
Certain data may be retained for a period of up to 7 years where required by Nigerian financial regulations, tax law, or fraud prevention obligations. This is standard practice for all regulated financial technology platforms in Nigeria.
